Abuja, Nigeria, March 22, 2026 (PMO) – Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Terrance M. Drew, has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, leading a delegation to participate in the 2nd Annual Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit, being held under the theme “One Voice, One Vision: Advancing Afri-Caribbean Unity.”
Prime Minister Drew is accompanied by Minister of Agriculture et al, Hon. Samal Duggins, along with a delegation of close to 70 individuals, including a strong contingent of young people, business representatives, and stakeholders from across Saint Kitts and Nevis and the wider Caribbean region.
Also present in Abuja are officials from several Caribbean nations, including Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, and the British Virgin Islands, as well as representation from the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), led by Director General Dr. Didacus Jules, underscoring the regional significance of the summit.
Speaking shortly after his arrival, Prime Minister Drew highlighted the importance of deepening ties between Africa and the Caribbean, noting that the summit represents a critical opportunity to expand cooperation across multiple sectors. He further emphasized that this year’s delegation reflects a deliberate focus on youth engagement and long-term development.

“We are here to build what we call the transatlantic bridge, the connection between the Caribbean and Africa. I believe it is already bearing fruit, and this year we expect to expand on what we would have done last time. I have brought with me a significant number of young people… to expose them, so that they can expand their horizons and see the importance of connecting with Africa,” he said.
He further underscored the shared heritage between Africa and the Caribbean and the urgency of strengthening those ties in this new era of global transformation. “Africa is rising… and our people in the Caribbean, who are of African descent, must connect and reconnect so that we can all go together,” Prime Minister Drew noted. Highlighting Africa’s growing global significance, the Prime Minister pointed to the continent’s demographic and economic potential, and also reflected on the historical journey of African-descended peoples and called for a united approach to shaping the future.
“By 2100, one in every three persons on this planet will be of African descent… and with the natural resources, it clearly shows that Africa is positioned for tremendous advancement. We have to own our own destiny to make sure that we benefit from all the possibilities that are ahead,” he added.
The Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit continues to serve as a premier platform for advancing trade, investment, cultural exchange, and strategic partnerships between Africa and the Caribbean, reinforcing a shared vision of unity, prosperity, and collective advancement.
