WARNER PARK TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF SPORTING EXCELLENCE
Basseterre, Saint Kitts, December 19, 2025 (SKNIS): One hundred years of sporting excellence marked by moments of triumph and heartbreak, alongside world-class music concerts, cultural showcases and displays of national pride will be commemorated on April 16, 2026, when the historic Warner Park celebrates its centenary.
During the Budget Debate on December 17, 2025, Member of Parliament (MP) for Saint Christopher Four, the Honourable Samal Duggins, shared that the anniversary will be celebrated next year with multiple events.
“By the end of January 2026, we will unveil our series of commemorative activities to celebrate that 100th Anniversary because Warner Park, for us, represents legacy,” MP Duggins stated. “But I also want to state that Warner Park represents [the] future.”
The minister shared that a complete overhaul is being planned for the multipurpose facility, which houses the premier cricket, football, tennis, and netball facilities.
“In due course, I will also reveal our vision, and our plans, for a complete brand new Warner Park sporting facility which would include a state-of-the-art indoor basketball facility, an upgraded football stadium, a state-of-the-art indoor netball and volleyball facility, upgraded tennis facility and upgraded cricket stadium,” Minister Duggins announced.
The government’s vision is shaped by the recognition that sport is a powerful engine for transformation, which drives social inclusion, youth empowerment, health, and national pride, while offering a strategic avenue for economic and global engagement.
