Federal Cabinet Approves Special Duty-Free Concessions for the Festive Season
Basseterre, Saint Kitts – The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis announces that the Federal Cabinet has approved special duty-free concessions for non-commercial importers and travellers, effective December 1st, 2026, to January 31st, 2027. The measures are designed to ease the financial burden on citizens and residents during the Christmas and Carnival seasons.
The approved duty-free allowances include:
- Gift packages of foodstuff: The first 400 lbs will be free of duties and taxes.
- Non-commercial imports: A duty-free allowance of EC$675.00 (US$250.00) off the CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) value.

This initiative reflects the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration’s continued commitment to providing practical and meaningful support to the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis, particularly during a period when household and business expenses traditionally rise.
The Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Acting Prime Minister, welcomed the Cabinet’s decision, stating:
“At Christmas and during Carnival, our people should be able to celebrate with family and community without feeling weighed down by unnecessary costs. These duty-free concessions are another example of our Administration putting people first and delivering relief where it matters most. This measure adds to the already announced Discounted VAT Reduction Days slated for December 11 and 19, 2026, providing further relief to our people during this festive period.”

The Government encourages all non-commercial importers and travellers to take advantage of these duty-free allowances, which will apply to goods landed within the Federation during the specified period.
