Fuel Prices Trend Downward as Government Delivers Targeted Cost-of-Living Relief
Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 22, 2026 (PMO) – The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has noted a lower cost of unleaded gasoline at the pump, reinforcing the tangible impact of the relief measures announced by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew during his recent national address.
As of April 14, 2026, maximum retail prices for unleaded gasoline stood at EC$18.42 per gallon at Delta Service Stations and EC$19.30 per gallon at SOL Service Stations. Just eight days later, as of April 22, 2026, the prices have decreased to EC$18.19 per gallon at both Delta Service Stations in St. Kitts and SOL Service Stations, reflecting a clear downward trend in fuel costs.
This reduction follows the Government’s decisive intervention to ease cost-of-living pressures, including the Prime Minister’s announcement of a 50 percent reduction in the excise tax on gasoline, from EC$1.95 to EC$0.98 per gallon, effective until July 31, 2026. This measure represents a direct fiscal commitment of approximately EC$1.2 million by the Government to cushion the impact of global fuel price volatility on citizens and businesses.
Additionally, the reduction in the Customs Service Charge (CSC) on gasoline from 6 percent to 3 percent – until July 31st, 2026, will also soon be reflected at the pump as future shipments of fuel arrive in St. Kitts and Nevis in the coming days and weeks.

The adjustment in fuel prices is expected to have a broad positive ripple effect across the economy, particularly in reducing transportation costs, stabilizing the price of goods and services, and supporting household budgets. Lower fuel costs also provide relief to key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and distribution, where energy and transportation remain critical inputs.
The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis remains committed to implementing strategic, people-centered policies that deliver real and measurable relief. As global economic shocks continue, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration will maintain a proactive approach to safeguarding the welfare of all citizens, ensuring that the benefits of sound fiscal management are felt at every level of society.
